As the Department of Gerontology continues to learn through our research, teaching and community partnerships we are excited to be on the forefront of this culture change movement to disrupt ageism and promote aging into elderhood. In fact, we were recently featured as a Spotlight Program at the GSA Annual Scientific Meeting based on our dedication to these goals. In the coming months we will continue our mission by pioneering new strategies designed to change negative perceptions of aging and to embed ageism and elderhood training as core competencies for people working in the aging services network. Together we can foster a culture that is more person-centered and inclusive.
